Disinfecting in a case of emergency

  • Disinfection of the water with bleach – In cases of emergencies, it is essential to have enough clean water for drinking and washing. Unfortunately, in situations like these you can’t be always sure that the tap water is safe. There is a way to disinfect the water, after all, by simply using household bleach. This product will kill all organisms and dangerous microbes, so that you can be sure that you or another member of your family won’t get sick. The easiest way to disinfect the water is to boil it, of course, but in case that’s not possible you can use the bleach. You have to add 8 drops for each gallon of water of the unscented household bleach you keep in your home. Then you have to stir and leave the solution for 30 minutes before you start using the clean water.

  • All-purpose cleaner with white vinegar – The white vinegar is great for the disinfection of all kinds of objects and surfaces and often used by professionals like HouseCleaning NW10. You can include it in your special emergency cleaning kit and use it every chance you get. When you don’t have any other cleaning supplies, you can put a little white vinegar on a cloth and disinfect everything in the place. The product is perfectly safe, so you won’t have to worry about your health or the health of the other members of your family. Just remember to leave the treated area to dry after the cleaning.

  • Cleaning with baking soda – The baking soda is another great product which can help you with the disinfection of your place in case of an emergency. If your pet pees on the carpet unexpectedly, you can use the baking soda to prevent the appearing of a stain and to remove the bad odour. Just cover the whole area with the baking soda and leave it there until it absorbs the liquid. When you remove it, you will see that there are no marks or bad odours.

  • Disinfection of wounds – In case you cut or hurt yourself and you don’t have a first-aid kit, you can disinfect the wound by using clean water. You can also add a little soap to a washcloth and clean the whole area around the wound. It is important to keep the soap away from the wound because this could cause irritation. When you are done you can cover the wound with a bandage or a clean cloth.

With those useful tips, you will be able to protect yourself and your family in case of an emergency any time. Just remember to prepare your own special kit of useful cleaning supplies, tools and other things that you might need in advance, so that in case of an emergency you can take it.
